Evaluation of Courses Experience

English has always been difficult for me. In school I did well in all subjects, for me they were easy, but in English, although I had good grades, I found it very difficult because I could not understand it from the root.

I must admit that in a beginning of English 1 in college I did not think I was going to learn much or that I would improve my English. But now that I am in English 4, after many blogs, after watching many movies and episodes of series in English (but with subtitles), playing duolingo and trying to listen to more music in English, I really believe that my English is better in relation how I started.

Regarding the blog I have learned a lot with this method. I learned more vocabulary, learned a little more about how to connect the sentences and I'm constantly reviewing the way I write in past, present and future time.

There are a lot of english things I learned at school or at other levels of English in college, but I forget them because I don't use of the english regularly. However, when I had to make the entries for the blog I remembered and reinforced many things I did not know that I knew.

I think one of the most important things is that I'm starting to learn to think in English. At first I always tried to translate my way of speaking in Spanish and that is very complicated, but now, I simplify and try to think in English according to my possibilities.

I feel very satisfied and that I have improved a little in English.

CHANGES TO MY STUDY PROGRAMME

I think that now the program of my career it is better in relation to the academic program that had before, with which I entered. Many times in assemblies with my colleagues we talk that was necessary to specialize in areas;cinematographic photography, art in cine, sound in cine, screenplay, film director, etc, since a begin and not to wait to end of the career. Also we thought that it was necessary to incorporate more specific courses of cinema, but of film technique.  This now is incoporated in the new program.

Other thing that was complicated is that before in the second year was the year of documentary and it was difficult to begin for the documentary because, I don't know, It is necessary to be a good observer, a very good observer But now the second year is of fiction and the third is of documentary and I think that's better.

But I must to admit that it worries me that the program delete many teoric courses, principally the courses more critics, but the real critic courses and not the courses that repeat the obsolete theories of communication that pretend to critic from the sames common places. I refer to courses more inclined to the philosophy or simply to think, because before of to be a good filmmaker I believe that is most important to have something interesting, beautiful or original that to express and for this it's good to read and to listen to others good thinkers.

Summer Holidays

I think that this summer holidays are the most uncertain or maybe not so much.

If it was for me... I would to go to Iquique, I would be with my family, ''my'' dog and my childhood friends and I would spend a long time on the beach, plays and relaxing. Maybe I would travel to someplace more or less near or by the north as Peru, Bolivia or Argentina... BUT is very probably that this it would not possible because I need to do my practice professional and it safest is that I would stay in Santiago with all hot doing the practice in anything.

I don't like so much the idea, but I’m against time and is very hard I can to do 400 hours in some practice now.

The good thing is that I would can to have more time now to dedicate to my projects; principally to the title work and if I am the summer here I would can to see the progress of the project with more attention.

If everything goes well I would can to finish the practice and my formalities in Santiago by February and I would have March free, just when begin the low season and I could travel more relaxed and with good prices.

The strangest dream

I don't remember any strange dream now... but sometimes, mainly, when I'm stressed with a lot academic charge or things for to do I dream stranger things as for example that the sea is coming or appears in my dreams friends, known and unknown people almost always in a rush or busy in their things.

Once, when I was little I was about nine years I dreamed that I saw the news on television and the news showed that came to tsunami in the city at that very moment. I was very afraid and I looked out the window and it was true! There was a tsunami approaching! I saw the big wave out again on TV and again, even closer, out the window, I woke up there.

Looking back, I have had others strange dreams but really I would not even know how to write or count them. I dreamed once that there was a celebration, something like a family food but with very more people and... They were all very entertaining to exception of me. I was looking for something or someone and I left of place and I showed up at a beach and there again problems with sea. The sea was wild, the waves breaking go out limits and I was front this. First, I tried to escape but the sea was stronger and the beach immense, then I abandon myself entirely in this moment I felt peace.

As I said at first the sea always recurrent in my dreams and the crowd of people but change the sensation.

Others studies

I have in my plans continue my studies after this program of study but not neccessarily in films studies, well.. maybe yes but in a more distante future. More soon I would like to begin the teacher program in this College because I think that is very important to bring audiovisual knowledge closer to study programs in the schools and finally also to consider other possibilities of the relationship of films with people.

While in a principle I wanted to do a course of scripts in Cuba in the school international ''San Antonio de los Baños'' -¡Here he himself Gabriel García Márquez did classes of script! it is a dream-  or something similar in Argentina or Spain. But as it is I need to save money and have a little more experience and knowledge in films area.

I want get prepared me as teacher of arts specialized in audiovisual communication.

I would like studies in this University, but I think that in the department of philosophy. I think that is necessary to approach the tools and audiovisual resources to students to early age. Because in a world highly mediatised is very important to meet the elements audiovisuals, how it is build the discourse with the image and sound.

Also is interesting to meet and to work problems of the children’s and younger’s since the analysis the films, because usually the persons have much relation what they like to see.

Finally I would like study in a part-time course ideally, because so in parallel I can continues doing filmes or works audiovisual.

My future job

It is really very difficult to think in this moment in a future job principally in some in relationship with my career, film and tv studies, I prefer in this moment I think in jobs more relaxed or complementaries. So I will make a list of jobs that I would like to do sometime...

The first in my list would be to educate, I would like to do the teacher program at this college. I would really like to do is to teach in rural villages in the north of the country as Mamiña, Matilla, Pica, Pozo Almonte or others.  I think that would be very interesting to relation my film knowledges with things of the formal education or program.

The second job of my list would be to travel... can to be how stewardess in planes, maybe, or I would like to be waitress in a cruise ships, but in the two options I need to have a good english or other language.

Other option would be to me to learn practical things as knowledges of orchard, bioconstruction, natural medicine, etc. I would like to can aplicate this things in voluntaries jobs around the world principally in south or center America. 

Finally, I would say that I have a lot of things for to do but in this moment the first is finish my studies.

My favourite film ending

Bicycle Thief (Ladri di biciclette)

The thief of bicycles is one of my favorites movies and in turn has a great end, is one of my favorites also. Many times I ask me  What is a good ending in a movie? And... for me a good ending doesn't come alone. For that a movie have a good ending I think that must have a good plot, good elements  and a ''end'' that touches our emotions.

The plot of the movie is about Antonio a man who, in full crisis of Rome of the postwar period, obtains a humble job hitting papers with the condition of having a bicycle, but on his first day of work his Bicycle is stolen. Antonio with his son Bruno try to recover it.

The main elements that make this movie a great movie are the building of the characters, especially Antonio, Bruno and the city, the excellent performances, sincere photography, the music, also there a big building of the plot because when the protagonist decides to steal a bicycle then all the little actions become very significant principally in the ending scene.

the film has many emotional charges in general, but all with subtlety and this is exactly what makes its end so interesting for me, an action as simple as a child to take his father's hand, at least to me I was moved to tears, because it says a lot, it really says everything but with incredible delicacy.

The end of the movie is really beautiful and excited, I appreciate that simplicity that manages to stir up the tears but to arrive to one memorable end is necessary, as I said in a begin, a good plot, good elements and to touch emotions. This ''end'' in my opinion is a great example.

Favourite series

Really I’m not so good for to see series but this I like it soo much...

Black mirror is a series original of Netflix which is about of a future dominate for the technology in different areas of our life. It's a kind of ‘’exaggeration’’ of our reality, that can not be so far away of our present.

All of the chapters maintain a similar essence but these have a plots, stories, context, characters and different audiovisual treatment.

I like it because it's very original, principally the plots of the series, I think that fantastic above all I value how the information is distributed in each chapter. Also I like it the interpretation of the characters are very professionals and talented, really the casting it’s very successful.

The quality of the photography is cool, each chapter this is renewed and with proposals interesting always in relation with the thematic and critic of the chapter.

Each time that I see some chapter of Black Mirror, above all with some of the third season, I remain in a state of trance and analyzing the message and critic of the chapter.

It's very good, I recommend you watch the series, particularly, as I mentioned more up, the third season  that is the best in my opinion.

A nice holiday

Many of my vacations or trips have been very good and I have enjoyed them, that is why very hard to decide for one for this entry.

Particularly this time I would like to tell one little vacations of holy week in the 2011. I went to San Pedro de Atacama in the north of Chile.

I know that ones, when I was little, I went there, but I know by photos because I not remember almost nothing of that trip.

This time I remember... I went accompanied by my older sister Jessica. The trip was fast, lasted more or less four or five days and really was very intense.

We went from Iquique in car, my sister was driving and I was co-driver. By the road in the open desert I remember that we listened all the trip Jack Johnson, Fito Paez and Jorge Drexler, among others. I believe that from there I like more these musicians.

We met the town, the lakes of the arounds, historical churches, the valley of the moon, there we saw a wonderful sky and so much stars, also we did a tour for a community originary of the zone where the guide turistic was a woman ''atacameña'' and she was counting the life and of the forms of live of her forbears.

But the place that I liked more of the trip was the Cejas lagoon. There the people can float because the water of the lagoon it's have many many salt and it's possible to make things and positions strangers and funny. Although I have to warn that the water is very cold.

A country I'd like to visit

There are many countries than i’d like to visit. But, if I had to choose one now…  I choose Colombia.

I have many reasons  to want  to go to Colombia. 

First, because my best friend of the university is colombian. He has  told me a lot about his country. He says that it’s a fantastic place, that the beaches are beautiful of clear waters and large. Also he says that people there is most happy, great dancers and that there the food is delicious, particularly the baked goods.

Also because my sister was there of interchange studies. She very changed from but for better. She has  told me about the trails through nature, of the beautiful, unknown and little towns.

Apart, in general in Colombia the chileans are dear.

A frame of 'The embrace of the serpent'

I would like to work there, it would be incredible to film a movie in that country. There is very good cinema there. The years passed I saw 'the embrace of the serpent', is one of my favorite movies. To work in such good productions, in those landscapes would be a dream.

The "Secret Friend": a good experience and another not so good.

Honestly, I played very seldom the "Secret Friend". I don't remember very well but I think I played only once this activity in school and it was not very important, because I do not remember anything very positive or negative.

Or maybe yes...

I remember that when I was in 8th grade my professor of religion made us play the secret friend, but instead of gifts we gave us letters. We could also give gifts but it was not obligation, the important thing was the letter. This activity I liked more. 

I remember that at that time I was the secret friend of the child who was my boyfriend. All my friends believed that he had cheated, but according to him not and it was very romantic, because it gave me a very nice letter and a teddy bear.
The only traumatic event with the secret friend I know up close is an experience of my sister. My sister has a lot of talent for doing manual things and I remember that on that occasion she tried hard to make a nice gift with her own hands, however, the gift she received was a few kitchen towels. When she returned to the apartment, she told me he was very angry. But now we remember and we laugh.

Who is a person/expert on your field that you admire?

Charles Spencer Chaplin was an actor, comedian, composer, producer, screenwriter, director, writer and publisher. He really was a very complete artist.

Charles was born on April 16, 1889, in London, and died in Switzerland on December 25, 1977.

Throughout his life, Chaplin received multiple nominations and awards. He received an Honorary Oscar in 1928 and in 1972, he was also a candidate for the Nobel Peace Prize in 1948, among other awards.

Charles Chaplin's mother was a singer, Hannah Hili. It is said that in a show, in middle of a song, the mother of Charles had problem with her voice and the show Manager sent to scene to Charles, five years old, who imitated her voice including the final fainting. The public, amid laughter, was surprised and applauded him.

I admire Chaplin, because although his life was filled with difficult moments, he was a lover of life. As he said: "in the end, everything is a joke". To my I love that phrase from it ❤


He was a master of silent film and cinema in general, his films were big blockbusters. He was also a great thinker and critic of his context, and that is admirable for me.

Almost all of Chaplin's work is good, but my favorite work of him is ''The kid''. Here is the trailer, I hope you enjoy it.

The soundtrack of my life

In my short life I have been a follower of various artists, bands and musical styles, but of the many styles of music that I enjoy I could emphasize the bossa nova.
I like a lot the bossa since I was a child, although at that time I did not know.

I started listening bossa since I was little because my dad likes this music. We always listened to bossa when we were in the car and until now we do.

Apart from the memories with my dad I consider that the bossa nova is a fantastic music, it has a very pleasant rhythm, it has beautiful harmony and its lyrics are incredible. In my opinion the sonority or musicality of the Portuguese language is one of the most beautiful and pleasant there is, for me to hear Bossa is like listen to pure poetry.

My favorite bossa nova singers are Chico Buarque and Caetano Veloso.

The songs that I have more marked of Chico Buarque are ''A pesar de voce'' and ''Mambembe''. I believe that they are songs admirable because they make a deep poetic critical policy, and however, are very cheerful.

And of Caetano I highlight the song ''Qualquer coisa'', I do not know why, but I love it. I think that Caetano has a musical delicacy unusual and a great voice.
